Q. Is the American Open University Accredited

Yes, all of our Programs (Bachelors, Masters & PhD’s) are fully Accredited

Q. What are the semester dates?

The Academic Semester Dates for AOU are:

Fall Semester: October 5th thru December 25th

Spring Semester: January 5th thru March 25th

Summer I Semester: April 5th thru June 25th

Summer II Semester: July 5th thru September 25th


Q. How much time do I need to invest in studying at AOU in the online programs?

Being a student at the The American Open University requires the same amount of time, effort and discipline as you would at any on-campus traditional University.


Q. Do you offer online degrees only? 

We offer both online, which is conveniently available to everyone world-wide and the traditional on-site campus classroom teaching at our Branch locations. Our Branch locations and information are located under the Branches tab.


Q. How long does it take to finish the Bachelors Program?

Approximately 3-4 years based on 3–4 courses per semester.


Q. How long does it take to finish the Masters Program?

Approximately just over 1 year if you enroll in 3 courses per semester.


Q. Do most Bachelor Program graduates continue on to the Masters Program?

Yes and many continue on to our PhD Program as well.


Q. Do I need to obtain a degree or may I take as many courses as I wish and study at my own pace?

Yes, you may study at AOU as a non-degree student and if you decide later you wish to obtain a degree, all your credits and courses you have taken and passed will be valid and transferred towards the degree.


Q. How much does it cost to get a Bachelors degree from AOU?

Q. Do I need to be Muslim to enroll in AOU?

No, AOU welcomes all who wish to study at our University.


Q. What Languages are your programs taught in? 

We offer Islamic Studies Programs in both the Arabic and English languages
