Examination
and Grading Procedures |
- Written Exams: Each course has two
written exams in the fall and spring semesters and one written exam
in the summer semester. These exams are sent out to the students,
and returned to the instructors, either by mail, fax or email.
- Oral Exams by Telephone: It is the
students responsibility to contact their instructors to confirm the
appointment for their oral exam, and also to contact their
instructor at the appointed time for the exam.
- Term Paper: These are decided upon at
the discretion of the course instructors.
- Comprehensive Exams: These exams are
taken by the students who wish to fulfill the requirements for the Bachelors Degree.
Three
types of Reports:
- Semester
Grade Report: This is sent to the students two weeks after the end
of the semester.
- Partial
Transcript: This is sent to the students at their request for a fee
of US$20.00.
- Full
Transcript: This is sent to the students after successful graduation
from any of the Levels.
Processing
of the Report Cards:
- The
final semester grades are recorded in the students’ files by the
Student Affairs Department once they are received from the
Instructors.
- The
Report cards are sent to the students two weeks after the end of the
semester showing the final grades that were awarded for each of the
courses that were taken during the previous semester. If a student
has any questions about the grades that were awarded, he/she should
discuss this directly with their course instructor.
- If
a grade of zero (0) is awarded for any course, this could be for one
of two reasons:
a)
The student did not complete all the coursework requirements.
b)
The Student Affairs department has not received the grades from
the instructor.
In both of
these circumstances, it is the responsibility of the student to contact
the course instructor to resolve the matter.
If a student does not complete all the
coursework for a course before two weeks after the end of a semester,
he/she will be awarded the grades that he/she had gained during the
semester, unless he/she made special arrangements with the instructor
for the completion of the requirements.
(e.g. If there are four items of course work during a semester and you
only completed two, you would only receive a grade for the two pieces of
work you completed, thus reducing your total grade from a possible 100
to a 50.)
If a student fails a course, his/her grade
will be recorded as such, unless he/she has made special arrangements
with the instructor to improve his/her grades.
